6G-CampuSens

6G Technologies for Secure Campus Networks with Integrated Sensing (6G-CampuSens)

The main objective of the project is to research, design and test 6G technologies for use in secure campus networks with characteristics of critical infrastructure. A reference architecture for secure 6G campus networks with Integrated Sensing & Communications (ISAC) will be developed. This addresses an important technological contribution to the definition of the next campus network generation “Campusnetz 2.0” to strengthen both the German user industry and Germany’s technological sovereignty.

One important element for the realization of powerful campus networks is Open RAN.  This concept is used to build the reference architecture. The FAU ESCS focus is to analyze the architecture of Open RAN regarding security. Within the scope of Open RAN with focus on security, the FAU ESCS works in close cooperation with the partners Barkhausen Institut, Secunet Security Networks AG, Infineon Technologies AG, Vodafone Group Services GmbH, umbrella.associates GmbH, Technische Universität Dresden and Rheinland-Pfälzische Technische Universität Kaiserslautern-Landau. Another contribution of FAU ESCS is RF and interference analysis for campus networks. This gives additional protection for the campus networks and complicates jamming attacks. Within the scope RF and interference analysis for campus networks, the FAU ESCS works in close cooperation with the partners Technische Universität Dresden and Rheinland-Pfälzische Technische Universität Kaiserslautern-Landau.

The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
